Keyword Research
Keyword suggestion tools can be used for a few tasks on the internet. The most common use is for finding out what keywords to use to
optimize your website in order to get good search engine placement, or what keywords to bid on in a pay-per-click search engine. But
they can also be used to find out what type of website you want to have, or what type of items you want to sell, by telling you what
keywords people are searching for online.
It's important to do your keyword research right. You can lose a lot of money by bidding on or optimizing for the wrong keywords. Below
we've listed the best keyword suggestion tools on the internet.
1. Wordtracker
Wordtracker is considered by many to be the
gold standard for keyword research. They have recently added a free
keyword suggestion tool for anyone who is just starting out. It will give you the top 100 results, but not the full results
list. Later on, you can use their paid subscription service when you want to start making a more in depth search, and get some help setting
up your business. Wordtracker's full service can give you a list of what keywords are getting searches and match them against the number of
websites already providing services in that area. It's an excellent program, and the best keyword tool on the internet.
2. NicheBOT
NicheBOT is actually more of a niche finder than just a keyword
suggestion tool. It does find keywords for you, but it also helps you find the market you want to get into by combining the results from
other keywords tools like Wordtracker and Overture and digging through and analyzing them to come up with the best solutions for you
specifically. You should end up with a good idea of what type of website you want to have and a targeted list of keywords to optimize your
site for.
3. Overture (Yahoo!)
For years, internet marketers started with Overture's
search term suggestion tool because it's free and gives you a good idea of what people are searching for. They partnered
with Yahoo! and they pool search results from a number of different search engines. For a while it didn't seem to be working as well as it
should, but it looks like it's back in business now. It's free to use.
4. Keyword Discovery
Keyword Discovery has also recently added a
free keyword suggestion tool that will provide
you with the top 100 results for any keyword query. They also have a paid service for more extensive keyword research, as well as a number
of other great research tools to help get your business going. You can check out their free trial first to see if you like their service.
5. Keyword Elite
Keyword Elite is a downloadable program
that can handle a lot of keyword projects for you. It can give you a simple keyword suggestion list. It can analyze your
pay-per-click campaigns. It can analyze your keyword competition for you, and spy on your competitors. All tasks that will save you a lot
of money on bad campaigns, and help you earn more with the right campaigns. Click play to hear my audio review.
6. Google Adwords
Google Adwords has a keyword suggestion tool as part
of their pay-per-click service. If you have a Google Adwords account, or if you're looking to start one, then you can do your keyword
research right there. I don't consider it to be quite as extensive as the tools listed above, but it's still good and free with
your adwords account.
